Diablo Immortal Tier List - Best Characters & Builds
Tier List Overview
In Diablo Immortal, your choice of class dictates far more than just your combat aesthetics; it determines your farming efficiency, your viability in PvP (Elder Rifts and the Battleground), and your overall progression through the Hell difficulties and the daunting Pinnacle of Hell. However, ranking just the base classes in a vacuum is virtually meaningless. Due to the game's deep customization system, a class is only as good as its build, which is heavily defined by its primary Legendary Gem setup, Paragon Trees, and Legendary Items.
Therefore, this tier list ranks the best endgame builds for each class in the current meta. We are evaluating these builds based on their speed in PvE farming (Helliquary, Echo Nexus, and general XP farming), their raw damage output in group settings, and their survival capabilities in the Pinnacle of Hell. Whether you are looking to push the absolute limits of the endgame or just find a build that will carry you through the grind without frustrating you, this ranking will guide you to the most effective setups in Sanctuary.

S Tier
These are the undisputed kings and queens of Diablo Immortal. S Tier builds feature a near-perfect balance of overwhelming damage output, exceptional survivability, and excellent mobility. They are highly sought after for grouping in Pinnacle of Hell and dominate the leaderboard rankings. If you want the path of least resistance to endgame supremacy, pick one of these.
Whirlwind Barbarian (Speed/PvE)
The Whirlwind Barbarian has been a staple of the Diablo Immortal meta for years, and rightfully so. This build transforms the Barbarian into an unstoppable tornado of death, capable of clearing entire screens of enemies in seconds. The core of this build relies on the Wrath of the Berserker skill combined with the Windshear Legendary axe, which causes Whirlwind to pull in nearby enemies. When activated alongside the Berserker's Rage set, the Barbarian gains massive movement speed and attack speed, allowing them to effortlessly traverse maps while simultaneously obliterating everything in their path.
- Why it’s S Tier: Unmatched mobility and AoE clearing speed. It requires very little setup to deal maximum damage, making it incredibly resource-efficient for daily farming.
- Core Legendary Gems: Blood-Soaked Jade, Chained Death, Cutthroat's Grin.
Summoning Necromancer (Pinnacle of Hell / Grouping)
When it comes to surviving the brutal mechanics and massive health pools of the Pinnacle of Hell, the Summoning Necromancer is in a league of its own. This build revolves around the Golem and Skeletal Mage skills, utilizing specific Legendary items that cause your minions to explode upon death, dealing devastating AoE damage. More importantly, this build acts as a massive utility engine for groups. By utilizing specific Paragon trees and Legendary effects, the Summoner can endlessly spam stuns, knockbacks, and crowd control effects, keeping entire screens of enemies permanently locked down.
- Why it’s S Tier: The ultimate team player. The sheer volume of crowd control makes difficult content trivial. Furthermore, because the minions and their explosions do all the heavy lifting, the Necromancer itself can stay safely out of harm's way, resulting in near-infinite survivability.
- Core Legendary Gems: Besieger's Wrath, Ember of Ash, Respite Stone.
Arcane Wind Wizard (Burst DPS)
If raw, numbers-going-up burst damage is what you crave, the Arcane Wind Wizard delivers in spades. This build focuses entirely on maximizing the damage of the Arcane Wind skill. By utilizing Legendary gear that reduces the cooldown of Arcane Wind every time you hit an enemy with a basic attack, and other pieces that increase its damage based on the number of enemies hit, this build creates a vicious cycle of destruction. You weave basic attacks to instantly reset Arcane Wind, which then hits like a nuclear bomb. It is particularly devastating against boss targets and tightly packed elite mobs.
- Why it’s S Tier: Phenomenal single-target and AoE burst damage. In endgame group play where mobs are gathered together, an Arcane Wind Wizard can finish off a phase of a Helliquary boss faster than almost any other class.
- Core Legendary Gems: Berserker's Eye, Seeping Bile, Weakness of the Earth.

A Tier
A Tier builds are incredibly powerful, highly competent, and capable of clearing all content in the game. They generally fall just slightly short of S Tier due to minor drawbacks such as requiring a much higher investment in Legendary Gems to shine, suffering from slightly lower mobility, or having a more complex rotational playstyle that leaves room for human error.
Death Knight Necromancer (Solo Push)
While the Summoner relies on pets, the Death Knight build transforms the Necromancer into a melee-range assassin utilizing Death Nova and Corpse Explosion. Supported by the Grace of the Cemetery set, this build generates massive amounts of shields and relies on high life-steal to stay alive in the thick of combat. Every time you use a primary skill, a corpse is automatically generated at your feet, which you then detonate to trigger chain reactions of damage.
- Why it’s A Tier: It offers an incredibly engaging, fast-paced playstyle with explosive visual feedback and massive damage numbers. However, it requires being in melee range, which makes it inherently riskier than the Summoner in Pinnacle of Hell, and it heavily relies on having high-tier gems to sustain its life-steal requirements.
- Core Legendary Gems: Blood-Soaked Jade, Trickshot Gem, Chained Death.
Consecrate Crusader (Tank/Solo)
The Crusader is fundamentally designed to be the tank of Diablo Immortal, and the Consecrate build leans heavily into that identity. By combining Consecrate with Draw and Quarter (and the Legendary steed that makes you invulnerable while mounted), this build is an immovable object. The damage isn't going to break any records, but the Crusader's ability to stand completely still inside the most dangerous elite affixes—poison, frozen, fire—while slowly draining the life from everything around them is remarkable.
- Why it’s A Tier: It offers the highest baseline tankiness in the game, making it an phenomenal choice for solo players who hate dying. It misses S Tier because its clear speeds are notably slower than the Whirlwind Barbarian, and in high-end group play, a tank's value is somewhat marginalized by the crowd control offered by Summoning Necromancers.
- Core Legendary Gems: Everlasting Torment, Blood-Soaked Jade, Champion's Fate.
Penetrating Shot Demon Hunter (AoE Clear)
The Penetrating Shot Demon Hunter is a classic glass cannon build. It focuses on firing a single, massive arrow that pierces through multiple enemies, with Legendary gear causing the arrows to ricochet and split. When positioned correctly against a line of enemies, the damage output is extraordinary. The build also incorporates high evasion skills like Daring Swing to keep the fragile Demon Hunter out of harm's way.
- Why it’s A Tier: Incredible screen-clearing potential and satisfying gameplay. The caveat is that the Demon Hunter is notoriously squishy. In Pinnacle of Hell, where a single misstep can mean instant death, the Demon Hunter requires a highly skilled player to position perfectly, making it less consistently reliable than an S Tier pick.
- Core Legendary Gems: Blood-Soaked Jade, Chained Death, Zod Stone.

B Tier
B Tier builds are perfectly viable for progressing through the game's standard Hell difficulties and participating in casual PvP. They are the "good but not great" options. They usually have a distinct flaw that holds them back from higher tiers, such as overly complex rotations, severe reliance on very specific (and rare) Legendary items, or simply being outclassed by another build within their own class.
Imbue Fist Monk (Melee Brawler)
This build utilizes Imbue to boost attack speed and damage, paired with Seven-Sided Strike for massive burst. The Monk dances around the battlefield, delivering rapid punches and pulling enemies in with Cyclone Strike. When the build comes online, it feels amazing to play. However, the Monk suffers heavily in the current endgame economy.
- Why it’s B Tier: The Monk has arguably the worst set bonuses in the game compared to other classes. To make this build compete at the highest levels, you need perfectly rolled, ultra-rare Legendary items to compensate for the lack of natural stat scaling. Furthermore, the melee range combined with relatively low innate shielding makes Pinnacle of Hell pushes incredibly punishing.
- Core Legendary Gems: Blood-Soaked Jade, Berserker's Eye, Ca'arsen's Invincibility.
Multishot Demon Hunter (Secondary DPS)
While Penetrating Shot is an AoE linear nuke, Multishot covers a wide cone in front of the Demon Hunter. It is heavily reliant on the Wind's Call set, which causes Multishot to automatically cast when you use certain skills. It is very easy to play—one could almost play it with one hand—but that simplicity comes at a cost.
- Why it’s B Tier: The damage simply falls off compared to other DPS builds in the late game. It excels at mindlessly clearing low-tier rifts, but when facing the massive health pools of Tier 100+ PvE content, Multishot lacks the scaling multipliers found in Arcane Wind or Whirlwind builds.
- Core Legendary Gems: Chained Death, Echoing Shade, Zei's Stone of Vengeance.
Thorns Crusader (Reflect Damage)
The Thorns build is an interesting experiment where the Crusader deals damage purely by getting hit, utilizing skills like Iron Skin and Spinning Shield to amplify Thorns damage. It is highly effective during the leveling process and early endgame, but it scales poorly.
- Why it’s B Tier: Thorns damage relies heavily on the raw stats of your gear rather than the multiplicative scaling of skill damage and Legendary Gems. As enemy health scales exponentially in Pinnacle of Hell, the Thorns Crusader struggles to keep up without an absurdly disproportionate investment in perfect gear.
- Core Legendary Gems: Defiant Soul, Miracle, Blood-Soaked Jade.

C Tier
C Tier consists of builds that are generally outclassed, heavily nerfed, or inherently flawed in the current state of Diablo Immortal. These are builds you should generally avoid investing heavily into unless you are doing it purely for roleplay or fun reasons. They can still complete basic story missions, but they will hit a brick wall in the true endgame.
Lightning Wizard (Sustained Caster)
This build focuses on Lightning Nova and Electrocute, aiming to create a playstyle similar to the classic Diablo 3 Lightning Wizard. The idea is to stun enemies indefinitely while dealing sustained damage. Unfortunately, in Diablo Immortal, sustained damage without massive burst mechanics simply does not cut it.
- Why it’s C Tier: The crowd control immunity of many endgame elites and bosses renders the stun aspect useless. Additionally, the damage per second (DPS) of Lightning skills is vastly inferior to the burst potential of Arcane Wind. You will spend twice as long clearing a dungeon as you would with almost any other build in the game.
- Core Legendary Gems: ANY available gems—this build struggles regardless of gem investment.
Explosive Trap Demon Hunter (Trap Layer)
This build requires the Demon Hunter to manually place Exploding Trap on the ground and then lure enemies into them. It requires immense foresight, pre-planning, and baiting of enemy AI. While it used to have a niche in very specific PvP scenarios, fundamental changes to how traps interact with moving targets have ruined its viability.
- Why it’s C Tier: The AI in Diablo Immortal moves too fast and is too erratic for traps to be reliable. By the time you lay a trap and an enemy walks over it, an Arcane Wind Wizard or Whirlwind Barbarian could have cleared the entire screen three times over. It is a high-effort, zero-reward playstyle.
- Core Legendary Gems: Not applicable, as investing high-tier gems here is a waste of resources.
How to Use This Tier List
While tier lists are an excellent tool for understanding the meta, it is crucial to approach this Diablo Immortal ranking with the right context. The game operates on a Live-Service model, meaning balance patches are released regularly. A build that is S Tier today might be hit with a nerf to a core Legendary item tomorrow, dropping it to B Tier. Always keep an eye on the official patch notes to see which specific numbers or items have been adjusted.
Furthermore, Legendary Gems are the great equalizer—and the great divider. The power gap between a 1-Star gem and a 5-Star Resonance gem is astronomical. A C Tier build wielded by a player with maxed-out 5-Star Legendary Gems will easily outperform an S Tier build wielded by a player using basic, low-level gems. When looking at this list, assume a relatively equal playing field in terms of gem investment. If you have highly specific, premium gems that synergize with a lower-tier build, you should absolutely play what your inventory supports.
Finally, never underestimate the value of personal playstyle and fun factor. Diablo Immortal is an incredibly grind-heavy game. You will spend hundreds of hours running Elder Rifts, farming Echoes, and pushing leaderboards. If you absolutely despise playing a Summoning Necromancer because you find pet management boring, forcing yourself to play one just because it is S Tier will inevitably lead to burnout. The best build in the game is always the one you enjoy playing enough to master. Use this tier list as a roadmap for efficiency, but let your own preferences dictate your ultimate destination in Sanctuary.
