You can switch between them seamlessly in the middle of combat with the press of a button. For example, you might use a Swordsman to break an enemy's guard, then instantly swap to a Mage to unleash a devastating high-tier spell while the enemy is stunned.

Embrace Aggression Over Defense

Do not treat this game like Dark Souls. Hiding behind a shield waiting for an opening is a recipe for a slow death. Your primary method of survival is the Soul Burst. By constantly parrying (Soul Shielding) enemy attacks and bursting them, you restore your MP and ability cooldowns. The meta-strategy is to pair a frontline breaker with a backline nuker. A perfect combo is Pugilist and Mage. As you progress into the DLC content, enemies have massive health pools that require prolonged combos to break. Advanced players utilize a technique often called "Mana Surfing." By equipping Jobs that have MP-restoring passive skills (like the Mage's basic staff combo finisher, which restores MP on hit), you can infinitely chain Soul Bursts on groups of enemies. Because a Soul Burst restores your MP, you can use an AoE ability, break a group of enemies, burst them to get your MP back, and repeat the cycle endlessly without ever pausing.

Optimize Your AI Companions

You will always have two AI companions with you. Do not just set them to "Default" and forget about them. Go into the party menu and customize their Job setups to complement your own. Give Ash a tanking Job like Knight or Heavy Armor and equip him with passive threat-generation abilities. Give Jed a support Job like Bard or White Mage and set his behavior to "Prioritize Healing." By turning your party into a functional RPG trinity (Tank, Healer, DPS), the difficulty of the game drops significantly.

Save Your Capacity Points for the Endgame
